Our Story
Our story began in a doctor’s office…our office. After 15 years as naturopathic physicians, it became clear that the demand for the kind of natural health care and advice we provide was vastly greater than the supply. Will full schedules and long waiting lists, we knew that we needed to find a way to bring the principles, the promise, and the products of naturopathic medicine to everyone.

At UpWellness®, we understand that every single one of our customers is a person and deserves to be treated with kindness, dignity, respect, and honesty. We understand that our customers are searching for solutions. We understand that sometimes they are suffering. Our promise is simple…we will always try to help. Often, that help comes from using our premium products. Sometimes, it’s from the educational information we create. Sometimes it’s an answer from our exceptional customer service department. And, sometimes it’s direct guidance from our medical team.
Our Products
Our medical team has 40 years of combined clinical experience…so we know what works. Our products were all conceived based on our direct experience working with patients in search of natural solutions for common, complex, and chronic medical problems. We only make premium quality products that we would trust in our patients, our families, and ourselves.
What does UpWellness® mean?
Our founders are surfers with a deep connection to the ocean. An “upwelling” is an life-giving phenomenon in the ocean where currents cause warmer surface water to be replaced with nutrient-rich cool water from the depths. This nutrient infusion sustains the life at the surface and is the inspiration for our company name and tagline:UpWellness®: Nutrient-Rich Living.
Nutrient-Rich Living
The medical definition of a nutrient is: “A substance that provides nourishment that is essential for growth and maintenance of life”. Of course, when we think of nutrients, we think of substances in food…things like vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. But there are other “nutrients” that you need to live your best life… Physical activity, sleep, laughter, humor, relaxation, fun, intimacy, intellectual stimulation, books, music, animals, plants, kindness, respect, love, connection, compassion, coffee, chocolate (those last two are debatable but we think they work ;-). So, here at UpWellness®, when we say nutrient-rich living, we’re talking about all of the above. We define the word “nutrient” in the broadest possible way.

Jake Carney
Jake’s Leadership in the health and wellness industry spans over 10 years. His commitment to building and breathing to life something new every day ensures UpWellness® success and growth while also continuing to focus on the customer experience. A well-rounded, fun-loving and hard working team is a testament to everything he believes in. Striving to make everyday a journey surrounded by fun, hard work, exercise and good food, is equally reflected in the products and service that UpWellness® provides to everyone we touch.
Dr. Joshua Levitt
Whether it’s his depth of knowledge, wisdom of experience, down to earth professionalism, kindness and compassion, expertise in natural medicine… Dr. Josh checks all the boxes that you could ever want in a physician. In practice, Dr. Josh draws upon the science of both conventional and naturopathic medicine and artfully combines the two into a unique “best of both worlds” approach. He is widely known for his exceptional diagnostic skills, his depth of knowledge, and his casual charismatic style. We are grateful to have him here at UpWellness®.
Dr. Amanda Levitt
Dr. Amanda Levitt is a bright light for anyone in search of common sense natural health solutions. She has deep expertise in using nutrition and herbal medicine which she uses to treat digestive problems, hormonal imbalances, menstrual disorders, menopausal symptoms, and a wide range of general health concerns. In her clinical practice she is an experienced, kind and compassionate physician. Everything we do at UpWellness® is infused with her wisdom and experience and she is a valuable asset to our company and our customers.
